Anita Wadsworth MA PGCE

After gaining a degree in Dance and Culture from University of Surrey, Anita became one of the first members of StopGap Dance Company. She went on to work as a performer and teacher in Norfolk, and as Associate Artist with Suffolk Dance in 1999 - 2000, she developed her work as a solo performer, poet and choreographer. Her  work has been  performed as part of Woking Dance Umbrella, Platform East and Resolution!

In 2002 she was awarded an Arts Council Award for Artists to develop internal x which was mentored by Fin Walker. In 2004, she worked with award winning director Sabrina Doyle to develop this work into a short film shown as part of the Collision! dance festival in Croydon. She trained and performed with Elevate Dance Company in 2003/4, then established Esther's Journey with fellow graduates, performing and facilitating dance for new audiences across the UK. She was Lecturer in Dance Education at The Royal Academy of Dance 2004 - 2007, where she developed and managed the initial stages of the successful Step into Dance Project for schools. More recently she has acted as choreographic moderator and consultant for Youth Dance England and UK Skills.

Anita continues to teach dance in the community, currently teaching youth dance classes for SLIDE, and running inter generational dance projects where people of all ages and abilities can engage with dance.
